Writing, scoring and reading the result

How CopyZap writes three new versions, how it scores them against your original, and how to read the result before anything goes to a client.

Writing and scoring

Writing and scoring window: checking your account, writing 3 versions, scoring them and picking the best, with the running time

A window shows each stage (checking your account, writing three versions, scoring them and picking the best) with the running time. A short page takes about two minutes, a long one about four. You'll hear a short sound when it's done.

Keep the tab open while it runs. You can work in another tab or window in the meantime.

How the versions are scored

Your original and each version are scored on the same scale. A version whose score lands within 3 points of another version or of your original is scored three times, and the middle score counts. That's where a small wobble could change the ranking, so one unusually high or low reading can't decide the result. A version that's clearly ahead or behind needs only one reading.

A reading that comes back broken (one of the four parts missing or at 0) isn't counted. It's read again.

What CopyZap changes in your marketing copy, and what it keeps

A web page gets a new page, not a polish. CopyZap may open it differently, put the strongest reasons first, change the order, reword, merge or drop headings (keeping your capitalisation style), and end with one clear call to action.

Short texts, emails, posts and ads keep their form. An email keeps its subject line, greeting and sign-off; a post keeps its hashtags and links; an ad keeps its headline and description lines.

The facts stay. Your prices, places, offers, numbers and names stay as they are, together with the facts you added under Make it stronger. CopyZap is told not to invent claims, numbers, promises, scenes, times or quotes. Before scoring, it checks each version for numbers or quoted words that aren't in your original or your facts, and takes those claims out when it can.

It isn't perfect. A version can still soften a detail or add a phrase you didn't say, which is why every result comes with Check before publishing.

Read the result

The result opens with the best version on the left and its quality score on the right. Each version is named (“Generated Copy 2”) and shows its word count and the time it was made.

The line under the title shows the goal, the language, how long the run took and the credits used, for example “Goal: Convert · English · Finished in 1:29 · 43 credits used”. The credits include every change and every score you make on this result later, so the number grows as you work on it.

If you added facts under Make it stronger, a line Facts you added lists them at the top of Comparison & rankings, at the bottom of the result.

How CopyZap helps improve marketing copy: the best version, Generated Copy 2, with 339 words, and a quality score of 78 out of 100, 27 points above the original
The Tidewell run: the original scored 51, the best version 78 (+27 points).

The quality score

The score runs from 0 to 100 and is made of four parts, each out of 25:

  • Clarity — is the message understood at once, without jargon?
  • Persuasion — does it move the reader toward the goal?
  • Audience fit — does it speak to the people in the For field?
  • Structure — does the page flow in a sensible order?

Under the score you see how far the best version is above (or below) your original. When versions are within 3 points of each other, CopyZap says they score “about the same”. A gap that small can't be told apart, so don't sell it to a client as an improvement.

If you came back with Make it stronger and run again and changed nothing but the facts, a line under the score compares both runs, for example “Last run: best 78 → this run: best 84 (+6)”.

Make it stronger and run again

If you generated without answering the Make it stronger questions, a card under the score names what your copy is still missing, such as “what happens after someone contacts you and what makes you different”, and shows the weakest score part on request. Answer and run again takes you back to the questions and writes three new versions with your answers. See After the run: Make it stronger and run again for every detail.

Ranking

Under the score, a short Ranking card lists the versions from best to worst, marks the Winner and any that score about the same, and shows your original underneath. Click a line to jump to that version.

Why this version

Below the ranking, CopyZap explains each of the four parts in plain words, for the version named under the heading: what works, and what still holds the copy back. This is the part to read before you send anything to a client.

Check before publishing

CopyZap lists the claims to verify — numbers, prices, promises — and language to review for brand voice. The AI can't know whether “over 200 businesses” is true; you or your client have to.

The other versions

Your original and all three versions are on the same page, each with its word count, the time it was made and its score. Use the Jump to bar at the bottom of the screen to move between them and to the Rankings.
